A thorough communication assessment has many benefits to a vocational rehabilitaiton counselor new to hearing loss or to human resource managers trying to accommodate an employee with hearing loss.

Counselors who are unfamiliar with all the issues surrounding hearing loss will benefit the most because the service helps them choose the most appropriate accommodations to meet their client's needs. Seasoned counselors find the information in the assessment valuable when dealing with complicated communication challanges.

Counselors who must choose clients based on order of selection find the assessment process helpful in the identification and documentation of the level of disability and impact the hearing loss has on successful employment outcomes, maintaining current employment and independent living.

A written report prepared by an experienced third party is valuable for case documentation and for use with employers.

Benefits of the Assessment Process: Gathering information in a systematic way ensures you obtain all the information in the same manner each time. Saves time by getting all the information the first time. Provides case documentation to help counselors save time. Functional and technical needs can be identified thoroughly and comprehensively.
